Terms of Service
Effective October 27, 2026
Buyout Desk is a product of LOOP AI. "We" means Travis Mahoney, a sole proprietor doing business as LOOP AI. These terms cover your use of Buyout Desk, whether you book a call or take calls. By submitting a form or booking a call, you agree to them.
What we are
Buyout Desk is a referral marketplace. We introduce people weighing a voluntary exit offer to former Microsoft managers who have left the company. We are not a party to the call. Each advisor contracts with you directly, sets their own rate, is paid through Stripe and keeps all of that rate. We charge you a separate booking fee of 20% of the advisor's rate, shown with the total before you pay. The fee is never taken out of the advisor's rate.
What a call is, and what it is not
A call is a conversation about the advisor's own experience: how they decided, what they wish they'd known, and how they laid out their own severance math.
A call is not advice. Advisors agree not to:
- recommend what to do with your stock, including Microsoft shares, RSUs or ESPP, or whether to exercise, hold or sell.
- read, review or interpret your separation agreement or any other legal document.
- give tax, legal, immigration, investment or financial advice.
If a conversation drifts there, the advisor ends that part of the call. For those questions, including visa questions, talk to a licensed attorney, tax professional or financial adviser. You make your own decision.
Advisors are independent
Advisors run their own independent businesses. They are not our employees, contractors, agents or partners, and they contract directly with the clients they speak to. We don't set their rates or hours or tell them how to run a call, and they may keep working with clients they meet through us. They are responsible for their own taxes. We don't vouch for anything said on a call.
No Microsoft affiliation
Buyout Desk is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation. Advisors speak only for themselves.
Confidential information
- If you book a call: don't share your separation agreement, internal emails or any other confidential employer document, in a form or on a call.
- If you take calls: never share Microsoft confidential information. By applying, you confirm that no non-solicit, non-compete or confidentiality agreement you signed stops you from taking these calls.
Payment and refunds
You pay nothing to request a call. We first send you advisor profiles without names (last role, part of Microsoft, years there, year left, rate and what they can talk about), and an advisor sees your request without your name before agreeing to it; names are shared once you book. Once we match you with an advisor, you pay the advisor's rate plus our 20% booking fee, each shown with the total before you pay, then pick a time on the advisor's calendar. Refunds below cover both.
- If no time works for you within 14 days of paying, you get a full refund.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the call for a full refund.
- If the advisor cancels or doesn't show, you get a full refund.
- Inside 24 hours, refunds are at the advisor's discretion.
Limits on liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is capped at the greater of the fees you paid for the call the claim is about or $100, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including any decision you make about your job, stock or severance.
Disputes
These terms are governed by California law. Any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Consumer Minimum Standards, held by video or in the county where you live. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. If you start the arbitration, you pay no more than JAMS's consumer filing fee; we pay every other JAMS and arbitrator fee, on time. Either side may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead. No class or representative actions or arbitrations. Nothing here waives a claim for public injunctive relief, which may be brought in court after the individual claims are arbitrated. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court, not arbitration.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and the version in place when you book applies to that call.
